Week 3 EOC: Making Money for Good

Making money for a good cause is something that is widely popular in the world. More examples of this are celebrities, the media, and social change, as well as how products are sold in most stores. These include stores like Sephora, M.A.C. and celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Christina Aguilera, Cher, and many more.  Sephora does a campaign on so many things that makes them a suitable cause for society. They have three main lines that they sell that all proceeds go to funds that help people in need. One of them is the pink line which is called the pink collection where everything is pink. Everything you buy from this collection means all proceeds go to breast cancer awareness. Various other donations such as men’s product go to prostate cancer awareness. The last donation from Sephora includes a project that they personally do that helps women feel more confident and to stop violence. “Every good act is charity; a man’s true wealth hereafter is the good that he does in this world to his fellows.” http://thinkexist.com/quotations/charity/. MAC cosmetics also do a charity such as Viva Mac Glam that goes to the Mac aids fund to find a cure. Celebrities such as Christina Aguilera, Lady Gaga, and Cyndi Lauper are involved in this as well. For Celebrities the most charities they do to make money for a good cause are selling either their products that they lease onto clothes in independent clothing stores, or performances, as well as donating a part of their wealth to help a cause. Another example of this is that they also release products entirely under their name, specifically for a cause, and that works as well too.  Overall this is how making money for good is actually good and worth more than something bigger. Also this is really great PR for them as well, so both of them win.

Week 3 EOC: My Demographics

I believe that I am a generation Y which is the age group who was born from 1970 to 2000. That means that my demographic age is towards things like the future and more on the technology. Besides that we have more babies in our generation, not to mention the divorce rate that’s going on in our age. In addition Generation Y demographics are more materialistic and more into the new trend type things that are going on around the world. Right now as we go on with our daily life, we are given knowledge from generation Xer’s.  Usually the age groups that range in this generation are from tweens which are age 9-12, and then you have the teens whose age ranges 13-18, and finally adults who range from 19-32. In addition to that we (Generation Y) as a demographic make a total purchasing power of 733 billion, along that we make up a fairly well huge attractive market. Again, the book says, “Both the baby boomers and Gen Xers will one day be passing the reins to the Millennials (also called Generation Y or the echo boomers). Born between 1977 and 2000, these children of the baby boomers number 83 million, dwarfing the Gen Xers and larger even than the baby boomer segment.” This was an example to show a more broad understanding of what I was talking about earlier. Armstrong & Kotler (2011). Marketing: An Introduction, 10th Ed. Prentice Hall Publishing, Pg 73. Also most of our demographics love playing video games as, well. It also depends on how they were brought up and what other demographic influenced that change or pattern in age. Overall I’m basically something different, because the generation that I was born in is not where I fit at all. But there are some exceptions to that rule.

Week 2 EOC: Boston Consulting Group - Video Games

In my opinion I think that the prices of video games that went up are no surprise to me at all. One reason why I think so is because they are lowering the prices for consoles, so that defaces the value of what it’s actually worth, but in addition to that the video games have become a higher selling product, due to manufacturing and other elements that go into games as well. Same thing with apps they lower the prices on apps because everything is now mobile, thus consumers have no time to sit around playing games. Right now the world is constantly moving and technology is growing, so I think that apps have a better chance of surviving than video games have in surviving in your living room. If you ever been ripped off by ebgames or games then u will feel my pain because i bought L4D2(cut Ver) for $59.95 on ebgames. On steam they sell it for $14! Even though its the same version.”    http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=27562482 That was an example of how expensive games are getting and that is ridiculous. Another example are how the prices of consoles are going down, and an example from this site proves that. "While we continue to innovate and design groundbreaking new products, we remain dedicated to our long-term vision for the PlayStation 2 platform,” said Kaz Hirai, President and CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment America. “Now even more consumers, as well as casual gamers, can experience what the PlayStation 2 platform has to offer—an unrivaled combination of the largest selection of software, a growing community for online gaming and one-of-a-kind accessories such as EyeToy™—at a new value price." http://www.console-exploits.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6514
Should games for the main 4 consoles be 60 dollars?(US currency Consoles:PS3 Wii Xbox 360 PC) I mean that the price for me is too high to buy games. I have to wait to buy them untill they go down. Oh wait I don't own a main console except a bad PC. Still the price is too high. What are your thoughts? Does the high price hurt the industry?
This is all information from consumers as well as higher ups in the corporate ladder.

Week 1 EOC: Great Customer Service

Great customer service is an experience that you should enjoy and become familiar with. Nowadays customer service is lacking, the employees best interest in the customers are turning into gello.  By gello I mean no one really cares right now, all they are out for is a paycheck. So why would anyone work at something they hate really bad? “They’ve focused on customer service and haven’t allowed themselves to be distracted by other things,” (Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation, 10th Edition. Page 3).  This is an incredible statement, because I believe this should be the basis for all jobs, at least most companies should enforce such a rule. In addition, if no one cared about customers or customer service how are we able to sell the things we need to? To keep cash flowing and to keep business running, besides you can’t really put a fake face on where the consumers can see it. I would rather come to work with an enjoyable attitude than a messy unsettled one. Retail now is a big deal for people, whether it is in Wal-Mart, Smiths, or Target consumers thrive on companies like these to keep them running and alive. We really can’t expect them to customer service themselves; otherwise they would steal a lot of things. Overall the retail world is opening up widely, and if we could step it up a little more, I’m sure we are more than likely to succeed in making a higher sales volume and enjoying the customer’s reaction to their experience in the store. I would to also add is if you ever go into a store and you get totally bad service, I would think twice and step out the way you were coming in, because it is not worth it. You were not there to be given bad service, you know.
