Week 3 EOC: My Demographics

I believe that I am a generation Y which is the age group who was born from 1970 to 2000. That means that my demographic age is towards things like the future and more on the technology. Besides that we have more babies in our generation, not to mention the divorce rate that’s going on in our age. In addition Generation Y demographics are more materialistic and more into the new trend type things that are going on around the world. Right now as we go on with our daily life, we are given knowledge from generation Xer’s.  Usually the age groups that range in this generation are from tweens which are age 9-12, and then you have the teens whose age ranges 13-18, and finally adults who range from 19-32. In addition to that we (Generation Y) as a demographic make a total purchasing power of 733 billion, along that we make up a fairly well huge attractive market. Again, the book says, “Both the baby boomers and Gen Xers will one day be passing the reins to the Millennials (also called Generation Y or the echo boomers). Born between 1977 and 2000, these children of the baby boomers number 83 million, dwarfing the Gen Xers and larger even than the baby boomer segment.” This was an example to show a more broad understanding of what I was talking about earlier. Armstrong & Kotler (2011). Marketing: An Introduction, 10th Ed. Prentice Hall Publishing, Pg 73. Also most of our demographics love playing video games as, well. It also depends on how they were brought up and what other demographic influenced that change or pattern in age. Overall I’m basically something different, because the generation that I was born in is not where I fit at all. But there are some exceptions to that rule.
