EOC Week 10: What Channels are you going to do to get your product noticed?
The Channels that I will be using to get my product to the consumer would be things such as media space and time which would be television, newspapers, social media, and radio. These will be expensive but they are very good when it comes down to advertisements and selling your product to the consumer.

EOC Week 9: Three Great Mission Statements
As we talk about mission statements I have 3 great in mind that I want to share. First this is a great quote the book came up with which is “"A mission statement is a statement of the organization’s purpose—what it wants to accomplish in the larger environment. A clear mission statement acts as an “invisible hand” that guides people in the organization." (book, chapter 2, page 5)

EOC Week 8: Disatrous New Products
A product thank I think would never work would be something like an electronic babysitter, money shredder, and self dress in the dark machine. One reason why I wouldn’t carry an electronic babysitter is because, those things are dangerous, I mean you don’t really know what’s going to happen to your baby until it really happens , which Is a very terrible thing to do. Another thing I wouldn’t do would be something like a money shredder. Those things would be heart breaking because why would you shred money when you need it. The answer is it may be for people who hate money or don’t ever want to deal with money but the thing is…who would want to destroy any type of money, even if it’s a dollar! There’s really no end to what you can do with different products or how you make them up. It really depends on how it works in the end. Another thing that would be a major disaster would be something that dresses you in the dark. That would be really ridiculous to have something like that considering you wouldn’t really want something dressing you in the dark, you would literally cry, because you would look ugly getting out of your closet. Overall in my opinion having bad ideas can be good ideas, because it’s a turning point to a great Idea, and who knows it may be big, depending on what you make it to be.
FINAL PROJECT: Distribution
Further enhance the Flare out styles image with the consumer by targeting prestige hot spots and shopping destinations. This is important when selling your product to the consumer. It also helps out when you need to better distinguish characteristics of our business that will be the combination of management experience, and distribution experience, high-quality, and exceptional customer service. What really sets up apart is that we are the only a distribution company servicing hair products and specialty hair spray for men in the Las Vegas market. In addition, Flareout Styles has an exclusive contract to distribute a new, groundbreaking product for men that would enable us to gain immediate access to a majority of the potential customer base.
The production concept is still a useful philosophy in some situations. For example, computer maker Lenovo dominates the highly competitive, price-sensitive Chinese PC market through low labor costs, high production efficiency, and mass distribution.
(Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation, 10th Edition. Pearson Learning Solutions 6.4.5.1).
Many companies follow the selling concept, which holds that consumers will not buy enough of the firm’s products unless it undertakes a large-scale selling and promotion effort. The selling concept is typically practiced with unsought goods—those that buyers do not normally think of buying, such as insurance or blood donations. These industries must be good at tracking down prospects and selling them on product benefits.

FINAL PROJECT: Product
Product quality and improvement are important parts of most marketing strategies. However, focusing only on the company’s products can also lead to marketing myopia. For example, some manufacturers believe that if they can “build a better mousetrap, the world will beat a path to their door.”
(Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation, 10th Edition. Pearson Learning Solutions 6.4.5.2).
Furthermore, a better mousetrap will not sell unless the manufacturer designs, packages, and prices it attractively; places it in convenient distribution channels; brings it to the attention of people who need it; and convinces buyers that it is a better product.

FINAL PROJECT: Target Market Strategy
Flareout will utilize a brand building (pull) strategy as the basis for our marketing plan. We will position our print media spend in magazines that influence our target consumer and validate the brand. The publications we will utilize are: W, Vogue, Cosmopolitan, and Vanity Fair. These are the same publications retail buyers and trend analysts to find emerging brands or trends. In addition to paid ads in regional issues of the publications mentioned, we will have a PR firm to develop a program for obtaining product placement and celebrity endorsements. Our media and PR strategy will bring the brand to the front for the consumer and set the stage for our image development. We will have a separate plan to market to retailers at trade shows. In addition we will develop a unique in-store graphic and communication package that explains our products benefits and advantages at point of sale. The popularity of hair has grown immensely in the last decade. Those who are familiar with hair products are well aware of how fun and addicting an evening out can be when you want to look fierce. Those who have not yet experienced the thrill of gracefully applying hair products on need a convenient, relaxed atmosphere, where they can feel comfortable learning and utilizing current popular looks. Flareout seeks to provide its customers with affordable quality service and products in a fun and supportive environment.
"Consumer value and relationships are at the center of marketing strategy and programs."
(Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation, 10th Edition. Pearson Learning Solutions 7.6.3).
Through market segmentation, targeting, differentiation, and positioning, the company divides the total market into smaller segments, selects segments it can best serve, and decides how it wants to bring value to target consumers in the selected segments.
(Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation, 10th Edition. Pearson Learning Solutions 7.6.3).

In a small group, develop a SWOT analysis for a business in your community. From that analysis, recommend a marketing strategy and marketing mix for this business.

Managing the marketing function begins with a complete analysis of the company’s situation. The marketer should conduct a SWOT analysis, by which it evaluates the company’s overall strengths (S), weaknesses (W), opportunities (O), and threats (T)

EOC Week 7: Final Project (Pitch)
My product that I chose is hairspray, and my pitch is going to be showing men that this type of hairspray which is Treseme is better than most of the hair products out there. It will also make the men look sexier and feel sexier than the old products they used, which would be gel. Which only makes you look dirty non clean and flat in style where you can look edgy and stylish with treseme hairspray for men.

EOC Week 6: 9 Apps
3 apps great
Infinity blade is a very popular app that is a game for a specific market that is into games. Most of the target market belongs to teenagers, teens, and college students, looking to play with something to try to pass the time while they aren’t bored. In addition it’s also entertaining to play. “Infinity Blade is by far the best looking game ever to appear on the iphone. Developed by Epic using the same engine that powered the incredible tech demo, Epic Citadel, it is no surprise that Infinity Blade is visually on par with modern console games.” http://techcrunch.com/2010/12/26/top-40-iphone-apps-2010/

Amazon is a very good app when you’re looking for something to purchase, whether it be a book, music games or anything that has to deal with lifestyle, or just a hobby. http://www.time.com/time/specials/packages/completelist/0,29569,2044480,00.html
Another app I think is great would be the Netflix app. Since we are in a technological revolution we always watch TV. shows and movies on the internet so why not have an app on your phone where you can view it on your hand. http://www.time.com/time/specials/packages/completelist/0,29569,2044480,00.html
3 apps dumb
Poop the world is the stupidest app ever because with GPS navigation systems it is able to target where you are in order to tell everyone when and where you’re doing your business, that’s disgusting! “This just tells us there are a lot of programmers who might be good in code but dumb when it comes to ideas on what to develop. Yeah or might be smart to fool a shallow user to buy their apps.” Said consumer,

Fat burner 2k is a really stupid app, it just turns your phone into a work out machine it’s not really that smart. Besides it’s tricking you, if I were to do this vs. the gym I would totally hit the gym. “FatBurner's secret: The app makes your iPhone vibrate. Apparently, that tiny vibration, placed upon your massive belly, will magically transform you from Mr. Jiggles to Mr. McConaughey.” http://www.pcworld.com/article/170157/the_10_most_idiotic_iphone_apps.html
“If rating your smooching skills isn't enough, a new app called Passion promises to judge how good you are at going all the way.” http://www.pcworld.com/article/170157/the_10_most_idiotic_iphone_apps.html Honestly this is a really really stupid app, no one can really judge how well you have sex, unless you want someone who wants to judge you, and you have a really insecure girlfriend.
3 apps good ideas
an app I think that would be of great use would be a locator app for when you’re shopping, that’s perfect because if you can’t find a store they should have something to find the store near you.

A good app I would come up with would be a personal shopper app where you could have your personal shopper who will mix and match outfits to help pick out the perfect outfit for the perfect place you’re going to.
A cool app would also be something like an buyers app where conventions are actually held online and
personal buyers are able to buy clothes from the producer so everything will be easier to the buyer and the manufacturer.

Week 5 EOC: Best and Worst Superbowl Commercial
There are bad commercials and there are good commercials. What I have seen at the super bowls were ridiculous, one of the commercials that I thought were the worst were the bud light commercial that was advertising towards dog sitters. I thought that one wasn’t that good honestly, even though it meant you don’t have to sit around all day taking care of dogs, you can have fun doing it in a different way. The best commercial I thought was really funny was about the Doritos commercial where he taunts the dog and the dog actually gets the advantage and breaks the door down. In a way commercials have gone a lot more creative with how they advertise things, also where they place them, and the super bowl is perfect for something like that. The thing is it’s really expensive to put an advertisement out like that. Sometimes it’s really good to have some sort of marketing or advertising campaign otherwise the company will end up not making any profit at all. This is also a great opportunity for great public realists. There was a large number of statistics who watched these commercials and they said, “As millions of fans gather to watch the Super Bowl and the numerous commercials each year, often times memorable quotes arise from the game, the advertisements and the events leading up to the game.” http://www.mahalo.com/super-bowl-quotes/ This shows that most companies have great social responsibility and know how to utilize that to create something worthwhile and interesting to watch. In the end most of the commercials didn’t really capture my interest except for the Doritos and the dog sitter one, but who knows there could be more amazing ones next year. We just need to keep an eye out for it.

Week 4 EOC: Business to Business Vs. Consumer Marketing
Business to business is a bit different to consumer marketing. B to B is when businesses have business relation with other businesses, and establish something from there. While consumer marketing refers to anything from public relations to having consumers test out the product, or something that is in interest to the consumer. For B to B, say you have a small business trying to get the social media out to the public. Usually consumer marketing is a consumer that purchases products for their own consumption. For example if you bought something that is related to your needs that is the consumer market. As for GE their company is strictly business, making sure that what the consumers buy actually goes towards the business to improve energy to all things that run on energy, which uses their brand. “But here’s a fact that would startle most consumers. Did you know that GE’s consumer products contribute less than one-third of the company’s total $183 billion in annual sales?” Marketing an introduction Armstrong/Kotler. Pg 39 of 59 Also with GE’s consumers buying decisions is much more complex now. Now that there are certain things and requirements that you need to meet. These things include stuff such as waiting a long time for a purchase to go through like buying a set of jet engines. “To get an idea of the complexities involved in selling one of GE’s industrial products, let’s dig deeper into the company’s GE Transportation division and one of its bread-and-butter products, diesel locomotives.” Marketing an introduction Armstrong/Kotler. Pg 39 of 59. Overall there’s really nothing different about both companies besides one is for a particular market and the other is for consumers who purchase products for their own consumption, and between those two I would agree with the consumer marketing side, which we all are.
